PRODUCTS & MATERIALS
Only items described as 100% silk are made of pure silk. Silk blends are clearly stated on each product page, with the full fibre breakdown listed alongside care instructions. We don't use vague wording — if a piece contains anything other than silk, you'll see it.
Our silk is sourced from established mills in China, where some of the world's finest mulberry silk has been produced for centuries. Each supplier is selected for material quality, weaving consistency, and refined finishing.
Genuine silk has a soft, dry handfeel and a natural lustre that shifts with the light — not a flat, plastic-like shine. It also feels cool to the touch and warms quickly when held. Every SILKAVO piece comes with a fibre composition label sewn in. If you're ever unsure, get in touch with our team.
Momme weight is listed on each product page. Our scarves typically range from 14 to 19 momme for fluid drape, while ties sit at 16 to 20 momme for a structured knot. Heavier silk feels more substantial; lighter silk drapes more softly.
Dry clean is recommended for most pieces. If hand-washing, use cool water and a pH-neutral detergent, never wring or twist, and lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight. Avoid contact with perfume, alcohol, and rough surfaces. The care label on each piece gives item-specific guidance.
Yes — on the lowest silk setting, with the silk slightly damp, and always from the reverse side. A pressing cloth between the iron and the silk gives extra protection. Steam works well too and is the gentlest option.
Properly stored silk keeps its colour for decades. Yellowing is usually caused by sunlight, body oils, or perfume residue. Store pieces folded in a cool, dark place, ideally wrapped in acid-free tissue or natural cotton.
